Carmelite Stations of the Cross
As Jesus toils along the hill, covered with the sweat of death, a woman makes her way through the crowd and wipes his face with a veil.
The pain of his wounds and the loss of blood increasing with every step, the legs of Jesus fail him again, and he falls to the ground.
A large crowd of people were following Jesus. And among them were many women who were wailing and lamenting him.
Jesus was now climbing toward the top of Calvary. Before he reached the top, he again fell under the heavy burden and loss of blood.
When they came to Skull Place, they gave Jesus wine to drink mixed with gall; but when he had tasted it, he would not drink.
Now one of the criminals, hanging there reviled Jesus saying,” Are you the Messiah? Save yourself and save us!”
It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, because of an eclipse of the sun.
