On December 2nd, we kicked off the Advent and Christmas season with our Christmas at the Crib celebration at the National Shrine Museum of St. Therese.
Our faith community gathered with their children and grandchildren to hear the conversion story of St. Therese of Lisieux. On Christmas at age 13 the temperamental Therese let God work within her to “grow up in an instant.”
After the conversion story, Fr. Bob Colaresi, O.Carm., Director of the Society of the Little Flower, led us in Christmas Carols and shared the story of Jesus’ birth. Those gathered there wrote the prayers and petitions for the Baby Jesus on hearts and placed them at the foot of His crib.
The night ended with cookies, cocoa, and a visit to the Carmelite Gift Shop.
We are blessed that so many people joined us in beginning the Christmas season focused on Christ.
The National Shrine Museum of St. Therese offers group and individual tours geared toward children. If your parish or CCD group would be interested, please call the Shrine at 800-647-1430.
